What We Check
Every domain you add to RelayGuard runs through all six checks below in a single pass.
We parse every mechanism in your SPF record, count DNS lookups against the 10-lookup limit set by RFC 7208, and flag risky configurations like a bare "+all" that lets anyone send on your behalf.
Checked against your selector, or against known selectors for major providers. We validate key length (2048-bit minimum recommended) and flag deprecated SHA-1 signing.
We parse your policy (none, quarantine, or reject), alignment mode, and reporting addresses, then score your maturity level from initial monitoring to full enforcement.
We confirm your mail servers are reachable and properly configured, so inbound and outbound mail flow isn't silently broken.
We verify your sending IPs resolve back to your domain. A missing or mismatched PTR record is one of the most common, and most overlooked, causes of spam folder placement.
Your domain and IPs are checked against major DNS blacklists, so you find out about a listing before your delivery rate drops, not after.
